CoGe is a semi-modular VJ application for Mac OS X®, designed for real-time media mixing and compositing, built over the most powerful graphics technologies like Quartz Composer, OpenGL, Syphon and Core Image.
CoGe is a semi-modular system, which means you can build the environment that suits you the best, and you won't be stuck with a pre-defined interface. “Gadgets” are the building blocks of the modular ecosystem and interface. Work with any number of layers at a time. Apply any number of stackable effects. Mix and composite multiple sources. Automate with sequencers and control surfaces. You are only limited by the maximum performance of your computer's graphics card and, of course, your imagination.
CoGe provides full integration with patches designed in Apple’s powerful Quartz Composer. Use the simple or advanced playback, compositing and effects modules included with CoGe, or write your own. CoGe's excellent modular ecosystem gives you the power to use your own media source handlers and effects. Go ahead: create patches for automation, mixing and composition with Quartz Composer. These plug right in to CoGe and can be used immediately in your projects. Quartz Composer patches talk directly to the CoGe interface, and your adjustable parameters appear right in your project windows.
CoGe isn’t picky. It eats almost everything out of the box! Whether its Quicktime movies or Quartz Composer Patches, still images, text, HTML and SWF files or animated Gifs - CoGe can use them all. Live cameras and capture cards are also supported and Collada 3D Mesh files as well. CoGe also supports Syphon so you can receive video from other Syphon-capable applications. Something not on the list? Roll your own Quartz Composer media handler patch - you’ve just expanded CoGe’s capabilities.
Audio Analysis in CoGe allows you to modulate parameters using incoming sound. For example, you could change the amount two videos are mixed by binding the opacity of one source to the overall loudness of the sound or a frequency band in the room with just a few clicks. CoGe also supports and plays Quicktime compatible movie loops with audio channels and allows the routing of a movie's sounds to different audio outputs. CoGe has a built-in, MIDI Clock syncable “BPM” engine to help you create beat-synced automations or to adjust a movie's speed to tempo.
You want control? Got MIDI devices? A tablet with OSC? CoGe supports direct keyboard mapping as well as MIDI and OSC connectivity, which allows you to control nearly all adjustable parameters with custom keyboard shortcuts, external MIDI devices or with other devices (e.g another computer, your cellphone or tablet computer) via your wireless network. CoGe can easily transmit tempo (BPM), the values of sliders and button states over MIDI or OSC. This makes CoGe not only a powerful consumer of MIDI and OSC, but a publisher too. Imagine the possibilities of two-way communication between CoGe and your favorite MIDI or OSC devices.
